Multiple Casting process at Ruike Machinery

Casting is a manufacturing process in which a liquid material is usually poured into a mold containing a cavity of the desired shape and then allowed to solidify. After solidification, the workpiece is removed from the mold for various finishing treatments or to be used as an end product.

Silica sol casting uses a more expensive but more precise silica sol binder, resulting in higher dimensional accuracy and surface finish. This makes it a preferred option for producing smaller, more intricate parts that require greater accuracy and surface finish.

Water glass casting uses a cheaper sodium silicate binder, which makes it a more cost-effective option for producing larger parts. However, it has lower dimensional accuracy, as the sodium silicate can shrink and deform during the heating process.

Sand casting is one of the oldest casting processes and involves creating a mold made of sand. The sand is mixed with a binder, such as clay or resin, to hold the shape of the mold. The mold is created by pressing a pattern into the sand, which leaves a negative impression that is filled with molten metal. After the metal cools and solidifies, the sand is removed from the mold to reveal the finished part. Sand casting is a versatile process used for creating simple to complex parts of various sizes and shapes, and it is often used to produce large industrial components.

Lost foam casting, also known as evaporative pattern casting, is a newer casting process that involves creating a foam pattern in the shape of the desired part. The foam pattern is coated with a refractory material, which creates a shell around the foam. The coated pattern is then placed in a flask and surrounded by unbonded sand. Molten metal is poured into the flask, which vaporizes the foam pattern and fills the space left behind, creating the final part. Lost foam casting is a precise and efficient process used for creating intricate, one-of-a-kind parts, and it allows for tight tolerances and reduced machining time.
